Cyberdyne HAL Helps Treat Lower Limb Disabilities

The Wearable Cyborg HAL is designed for treatment to improve patient’s physical functions. Cyberdyne Treatment uses HAL to revitalise the function of the wearer. The treatment targets lower limb related disabilities.

Motion principle of HAL

The Wearable Cyborg™ – HAL generates commands, sends-receives signals, and assists the intended movement. When a person tries to move, signals sent from brain to the muscles trickle onto the surface of the skin as very faint bio-electrical signals, and HAL is capable of detecting these signals and consolidates various information to complete the motion of patients. As a result, a neurological loop of afferent and efferent neurons is established between brain and muscle through HAL.

Cyberdyne HAL for treating the Lower Limb Type, is cleared as a medical device to patients of Musculoskeletal Ambulation Disability Symptom Complex, such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, cerebrovascular diseases, and other diseases of the brain and neuromuscular systems.

Treatment by HAL

Think, Send, Read, Move — HAL is the World’s first neurologically controlled Wearable Cyborg™ which puts your intentions into action.

HAL improves locomotor activity in stroke, spinal cord injury and other neuromuscular disease patients. By using HAL, which utilizes the bio-electrical signal that reflects the wearers’ intended motion, interactive biofeedback is promoted in and outside of the body between HAL, brain, nervous system, and muscular system.

Cyberdyne Treatment is based on this interactive bio-feedback theory. The effect of this treatment method to promote functions of the lower limb, upper limb, and body trunk is reported through clinical applications. Cyberdyne HAL’s Wearable Cyborg™

  • Is made to fit all individuals
  • Is used in treatment of broad types of diseases
  • Is controlled by the wearer’s intent
  • Is a very powerful friend that supports the road to independence
  • Establishes a healthy loop of signals

Rehabilitation

HAL Lower Limb (HAL-ML05), a neurological device helps the patients regain the natural movement of their paralysed legs based on their intention. It is to improve locomotor activity in several types of neuromuscular disease patients even in their chronic stage.

Exoskeletons/Rehabilitation robots in physical therapy are used for treating lower limb disabilities and gait disorders in general. Exoskeletons increase capabilities; assist locomotion and rehabilitation in general.

Our patient testimonial – Robins story –

“First, I want to thank the nice and competent staff of the Cyberdyne Care Team. I was offered ambulatory training at Cyberdyne after my accident with incomplete tetraplegia, which I accepted thankfully. Already after the first session, I knew that this kind of training is useful for people in my situation. I was impressed and thankfully was able to progress quickly. In my opinion, my recovery would not be as good as it was without this kind of therapy. Today I can walk without any aids and could leave the difficult time behind me.

Cyberdyne treatment played a huge part in this development. So again, a big thank you goes to the whole team. Without you, things would have a different outcome”
